Official sources The former Department for Education and Skills www.dfes.gov.uk/ has been replaced by three new Departments, but Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) is “responsible for improving the focus on all aspects of policy affecting children and young people”. It may take some time for its role and resources to become clear. Local Government Association - Education — represents most Local Authorities Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) — You can download complete OFSTED reports from this site, which saves a trip to the library and large photocopying bills.
News and information Education Guardian — Possibly the most extensive and easily-searched website Times Educational Supplement — The TES web site features news stories from the current issue and a searchable archive of back issues. However, since significant the TES changed ownership, there has been less critical coverage of education news. BBC — The BBC's web site has an excellent Education News section where you can keep up to date with the latest stories or catch TV and radio news broadcasts that you might have missed.
Research Institute of Education — The University of London's Institute of Education site is a good place to go for serious academic information. You can download your own copies of research papers. Education-line — is an Electronic Libraries Programme project, based at Leeds University. The site is building up a collection of documents, research papers and reports to contribute to the continuing debate on education and training practice.
