CASE Conference 2025

The Campaign for State Education’s 2025 conference, “Alternatives to Ofsted: The Future of School Inspection,” brought together educators, researchers, and campaigners to examine Ofsted’s history, its impact on schools and teachers, and its role in sustaining a market-driven education system. Across four sessions, speakers explored the consequences of performative accountability, the toll of inspection on staff well-being, international models of school evaluation, and emerging alternatives—such as peer-led and formative approaches—that promote trust, collaboration, and genuine school improvement.
